The Captain of Industry
Chou Hsüeh-hsi (Jan 12, 1866 Jinling – Sept 26, 1947 Beijing), the fourth son of Zhou Fu, born in Jinling (now known as Nanjing), was an industrialist of northern China. He served as the Minister of Finance for the Republic of China twice, from 1912 to 1913, and from 1915 to 1916. Closely associated with Yuan Shikai. In the first two decades of the twentieth century, he had created many enterprises and institutions, with Chee Hsin Cement as his cornerstone.
