This was one of my first software that was catered to make the family tree. Before this, I used Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet and dBase. Both endeavor ended in the crash. Then I saw this one.
The good: it didn’t crash.
The bad: it couldn’t accommodate Chinese characters – I found this one out when I exported the data to my current home, using PhpGedView. Chinese characters are must when it comes to genealogy because pinyin can only give your the sound of it, not tone nor different character with the identical sound. FTM displayed the Chinese characters correctly but they turned up funny in PGV. Oh well. Lesson learnt.
Also, FTM constantly offered annual update, which I always paid. Only now did I learn that it wasn’t necessary. Oh well.
