GreenLights, 2020

Written by Matthew McConaughey and narrated himself, this book was published in Oct 2020. 

I enjoyed it: both the content and the style. His year long exchange student in Australia, his trailer trash days (ha ha ha … can’t help but to use this term, especially after watching Nomadland recently.), his wrestling match in Mali then walking the 15 miles to next village holding hand with the Michel, his opponent; … all interesting and petty impressive: an unconventional actor.

I came to know him by watching The Lincoln Lawyer (2011), Dallas Buyers Club (2013; won Best Actor). He has a small part in Wolf of Wall Street (2013) where he pounded his chest while humming, was unforgettable.

I kind of expect him to turn to direct, joining the ranks of actor-turned director and won the Best Picture and Best Director, such as like, Kevin Costner’s Dances with Wolves (1990), Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven (1992),  and Mel Gibson’s Brave Heart (1995). Hope this comes soon. He doesn’t seem to care much about the trappings of the Hollywood stars’ and live a real life, which I think, something great should come out of that.

我是通过看《林肯律师》(2011)，《达拉斯购买者俱乐部》(2013年,获得最佳男演员) 认识他的. 他在《华尔街之狼》 (2013) 中只占一小配角,和小李子午餐时捶胸瞬间也是经典.

我希望他转向导演,加入最佳影片+最佳导演行列:例如凯文·科斯特纳Kevin Costner 的《与狼共舞》(1990), 克林特·伊斯特伍德 Clint Eastwood的《不饶恕》(1992) 和梅尔·吉布森 Mel Gibson 的《勇敢的心》(1995). 希望这日会很快到来.
