The artifacts are refined and vibrant. \u201cThe discovery in 1939 changed our understanding of some of the first chapters of English history,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/suebrunningbm?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sue Brunning<\/a>, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/history\/true-history-behind-netflixs-dig-and-sutton-hoo-180976923\/\">curator of early medieval European collections<\/a> at the British Museum.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ireneeng.com\/?p=4061\">The Last Kingdom<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4144\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4144\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ireneeng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/IMG_1660.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4144\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ireneeng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/IMG_1660-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4144\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">wiki photo: Brown in foreground<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>The Movie<\/strong> is finely made, with Ralph Fiennes playing Basil Brown (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Basil_Brown\">1888<\/a>-1977) the amateur digger who was hired by\u00a0Carey Mulligan as Edith Pretty, the widowed landowner, to dig on her land. The actings are great and the cinematography is enjoyable. I particularly love the scene when Brown watched a dirt-red sail barge glides before him, passing in the sunset. Of course there is a little tension when the British Museum got wind of the discovery and sent their big guns to the site.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Story<\/strong> is based on the same name novel published in 2007 by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Preston_(author,_born_1953)\">John Preston<\/a> whose aunt Peggy Piggott (also known as <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Margaret_Guido\">Margaret Guido<\/a>, 1912-94), Lily James in the movie, \u00a0was a young archaeologist on the Sutton Hoo team. Preston has just published\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Fall-Mysterious-Maxwell-Britains-Notorious\/dp\/0062997491\">Fall: the mysterious life and death of Robert Maxwell, Britain&#8217;s Most Notorious Media Baron<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0in 2021. Robert Maxwell (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Robert_Maxwell\">1923<\/a>-91) who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ireneeng.com\/?p=4013\">was involved in video game Tetris<\/a> was a litigious\u00a0fraudster and\u00a0the father of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ghislaine_Maxwell\">Ghislaine<\/a>&#8211;the girlfriend and madame to sex offender <a title=\"Jeffrey Epstein\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jeffrey_Epstein\">Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some links:\u00a0Smithsonia: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smithsonianchannel.com\/video\/series\/mystic-britain\/72798\">videos<\/a>;
