QX #109 or #159<\/a>: the tiles are identical to my childhood home.<\/p>\n

These Chee Hsin tiles<\/a> are seen at the front porch at the villa, Taipan’s residence of former Yangshupu Cotton Mill’s\u00a0taipan<\/a>. This Shanghai textile factory was part of Jardine’s vast empire<\/a>. Now, it’s a coffee house. All photos are from\u00a0Feng Guoyin \u51af\u56fd\u911e.<\/p>\n

The Jardine<\/a>\u00a0Cotton Mill was the first foreign mill found in Shanghai in 1896 at 670 Yangshupu Road. This location was merged in 1915, and the house the chief was built in 1918. In 2009, to make way for the Oriental Fisherman’s Wharf, all was demolished, except the Daban House, now a coffee bar.<\/p>\n

1915\u5e74, \u534e\u5546\u7ede\u82b1\u5c40\u88ab\u82f1\u5546\u6536\u8d2d,\u6539\u79f0\u6768\u6811\u6d66\u7eb1\u5382. \u00a01921\u5e74, \u6539\u5c5e\u6021\u548c\u7eb1\u5382\u80a1\u4efd\u6709\u9650\u516c\u53f8,\u7b80\u79f0\u201c\u65b0\u6021\u548c\u201d. \u5efa\u4e8e1918\u5e74\u7684\u6768\u6811\u6d66\u7eb1\ud840\udc86\u5927\u73ed\u4f4f\u5b85\u662f\u552f\u4e00\u7559\u4e0b\u7684\u5efa\u7b51.\u00a0\u6768\u6811\u6d66\u7eb1\u5382\u4ee5\u53ca\u540e\u6765\u65b0\u6021\u548c\u7eb1\u5382\u7684\u6240\u6709\u5efa\u7b51\u90fd\u5df2\u62c6, \u53d8\u6210\u4e86\u73b0\u5728\u7684\u4e1c\u65b9\u6e14\u4eba\u7801\u5934.<\/p>\n
