Oui .. our first win!

Published by The Kibbitzer under Saga, Sports, View from Bottom

Pumpkin and I won our first match today, 4:6, 6:1 and 6:3!!! Wow .. that’s something we both cherished. This is our second time playing together. She serves much better now and plays with more confidence. The will to win she displayed was pronounced, which in turn got me going. We both won points on each other [...]

Martha Argerich plays Schumann

Published by The Kibbitzer under View from Bottom

A little huge fireball, long before Olga Kern who won the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition .. that’s when I first saw Olga, who played Rachmaninoff piano concerto #3, or the Rock 3 - she wore a red dress and played like an animal - which was very refreshing .. beating out all the boys.  [...]

Slow serve ..

Published by The Kibbitzer under Saga, Sports

Pumpkin’s serve is getting better slowly, but she’s getting there.  This semester she seems to have a lot motivation to play. .. .. Everything takes practice and hard work to get it right.

Her g/f

Published by The Kibbitzer under Saga, Sports, View from Bottom

Pumpkin’s partner Tiffany is a sophomore who loves to coach, or giving tips. I went down to watch with my camera in hand. Pumpkin told her .. that’s my Mom. Tif waved a hello, said “hi Mom ..” So cute. They were leading 2:0. Then Pumpkin served and lost the game with two doubles. The [...]

My kids got a raw deal ..

Published by The Kibbitzer under Saga, Sports, View from Bottom

I played good tennis this glorious weekend, despite of my tender right wrist hurt while making my little table. I know .. I know .. complaining shows character flaw and .. but I’ve been making ado with it and hopefully get over it soon. My buddies are pretty sick by now that every time we [...]

Serena’s bra straps

Published by The Kibbitzer under Sports, View from Bottom

Has anyone told her that her black straps are kind of, well, an eye sore under a red dress? How about a racer back bra or a similar color bra? The opening on her lower back is neat and sexy.  In terms of fashion, Venue is doing much better.
The Williams sisters are not only written [...]

10 minutes of tennis

Published by The Kibbitzer under Saga, Sports, View from Bottom

Between the rains and men’s semis, I got to play with Pumpkin briefly today.  It’s very humid and uncomfortable.  Pumpkin said there is an upper class girl on the team who loves to give advice to others.  Most looked at it as annoying but Pumpkin said she actually enjoys it.  Finding a mentor at the right [...]

New courts

Published by The Kibbitzer under Saga, Sports, View from Bottom

I came home after some games and took a chance, asking if Pumpkin would like to play some tennis with me. Half heartedly. It’s 8:30pm. To my surprise, she said yes. She made the JV team and has practice every day for the past two weeks. And enjoying it.
Thank god one of the four cluster [...]

Open shoulder

Published by The Kibbitzer under Sports

This slow motion shows Nadal’s muscles during a serve.  It’s unbelievable.
I often heard that to get a better serve you need to open up your shoulder more.  I think I know what does it mean.  I don’t always open up my shoulder when I serve.  It is a hard work.  Playing a better game requires more mental [...]

Sam’s Club

Published by The Kibbitzer under Sports, View from Bottom

You go SAM .. Sam Querrey. The stadium is rocking and he is doing fine. Won the second set 7:5, and just broke Nadal back at 4:4 and just held serve, leading 5:4 the third set.
The American sport commentators are fair and most of them are worldly. I just couldn’t forget one tourney that held [...]

The 17 years old Norwegian Magnus Carlsen is taking the chess world by storm.  17!  From Norway.  Ranked 6th in the world, with men old enough to be his father.  could be #1 if he wins the Grand Slam Chess Final Masters on Tuesday in Bilbao, Spain.

Fish vs Monkey

Published by The Kibbitzer under Sports

Mardy Fish of USA is playing Gael Monfils of France.  I like Monfils: loose, casual and acrobatic, can probably scale the Mount Marcy or Algonquin Peak Summit like a monkey.  Fish serves and volleys .. so I’m for the American while Pumpkin is for the Acrobat.  Mardy is leading two sets to love.
French male tennis players have been [...]

13:0 Giants vs Patriots

Published by The Kibbitzer under Sports

It’s half time, New York Giants is leading New England Patriots 13 to nothing. The demo convention got a few seconds during the half time. Isn’t this cool or what, the presidential race got a few seconds out of half time, when half time was just few commentators, well commenting.  As if frying some cold [...]
