The Alaskan fairytales

I took this pic during the trip this past August in Skagway, the last of the three port of calls.
People or media are predicting that Sarah Palin will soon run for higher office, president of the United States of America herself. Lord, are they blind or what? I’ll vote for Hillary many times over before [...]

Endless love

This was the pool where I did my laps on the cruise.  It was an endless pool with the current coming out at the top end.  It looked enclosed in and less glamour.  Suits me just fine.  I was always by myself there.  Couldn’t image sharing it with another swimmer.  The current was bit slow for my [...]

Flowers of Alaska

Cold, and lightless most months in a year, I was surprised to see those lovely flowers!  They’re for real, put me to shame.

Food

I normally eat two meals a day.  That was before knowing myself could eat so much!  The Princess cruise ship has six restaurants (two are premium that require additional fees) and one buffet, endless food, very abundant, very American.  They serve afternoon tea too.  The white gloves were not quite there.  After all, it’s a [...]

An arty world

Artist Howard Behrens was on board, selling his stuff. His wife was with him, so was his daughter. I don’t find his painting mastery, few actually very amateurish, as if unfinished.  His wife on the booklet looked really slim and small.  But when I saw her at the gathering, lord, she was huge.  Howard looked [...]

Little bit chocolate goes a long way

On Friday, the ship cooked up a chocolate storm before lunch (odd timing), as if we didn’t have enough to eat.  I was dying of Tiramisu.  The bakery staff did great job on Tiramisu, even only served it once (plenty at the feast - but who would have appetite that early?).  The soufflé were good too [...]

Bridge

Published by The Kibbitzer under View from Bottom

Contract bridge that is.  Not surprisingly, I found bridge on the cruise.  Jeanette gave an hour long lesson in the morning and an actual 2-hour play followed in the mid afternoon. The most players we had were 12 one afternoon.  All of them are to be retirees or around that age.
I was often asked how long have I [...]

The Last Frontier

I’ve been gone for a week and am sure everyone is missing me, Okay, no one ever noticed that I was missing. Happy? No one called police to report missing person? I’m hurt.
Olympic is closing in Beijing, and I thought about sports and competing: as much as we like to believe, but I think [...]
