The result of the 首届美东华语电影节入围作品 First Mid-Atlantic Chinese Film Festival‘s finalists by the judges came out last week. After a quick perusal, disappointment settled in. Oh well, try harder next time I told myself and few friends.

The ensuring week, I got few more emails from the committee regarding the ceremony on June 10. By Friday I finally fed up,

“Hey, guys, please stop rubbing salt on my wound …”

The organizer was like … ” Errrhh.. but your film is selected!”
I was like … ” Really (how embarrassing!) ?? ”
The organizer rolled his eyes, ” .. Yes, REallY ..”

So here’s the Laugh of the Week, -:).

Hooray, so Mrs. Eng goes to Washington after all. Would you like to come?

I failed to see my own work is because Tailgate to me, is Tailgate, not 擋板, even I translated it myself. I pulled this vid off with few all nighters due to deadline (unbeknown to me at the time, the deadline had been extended numerous times, from the original Jan 6 well into March). On top of deadline, I also had problem with the free online Movie Maker editing software when I couldn’t save a better edited version.

Aside from those glitches, I’m overjoyed, it’s an enormous encouragement for me. I guess the persistence and walk that last five miles (not five minutes fever) is the key to any accomplishment?

In dealing with the committee, I found them to be reasonable and passionate. Here is a little background on the festival 美东华语电影节背景资料.

6月10日当天的活动大致安排如下：

下午1点30分 走红毯仪式
2点30分 纪录片《Drifting in LA》
3点整至5点30分 颁奖礼及演出
晚6点至8点半 电影人晚宴及专题交流

亲爱的“首届美东华语电影节暨原创短片大赛”参赛选手们：

大家好！

感谢大家对于本次活动的热情参与。电影节的评审工作已经接近尾声，由于评委老师工作繁忙，评审时间超过预计，我们在此致以真诚的歉意。我们承诺，5月10日将公布最终的评审结果。我们热烈欢迎所有参赛选手来马里兰参加6月10日的颁奖礼，以及当天的走红毯，小型研讨会，电影人晚宴等活动。由于我们的经费有限，经过组委会认真考虑，我们决定将给予获奖及入围的选手一定的经济补助——我们会cover掉一半的路费（机票，车票等），住宿方面我们正在努力，争取全部cover。我们鼓励附近的选手尽量选择开车前来，我们将会报销一半的汽油费。具体补偿我们会在5月10日公布入围奖名单时给大家详细信息，并与大家沟通。第一届电影节一起都是从摸索中做起，组委会的成员也都是学生，还请大家理解我们的经济状况。有了这一届的经验，相信下一届无论是在时间还是在经济上都会更加游刃有余。

此外，我们组委会也正在邀请各界的名人作为嘉宾参加我们的颁奖礼。但我们的力量还是不足，目前的进展比较有限。所以，我们希望发动选手朋友们动用你们的connection，一起来联系相关明星（导演，编剧，演员或艺术家，歌手等皆可），请他们来参加我们的颁奖礼。我们将会报销他们的机票（经济舱一张）。如果明星本人在北美地区，我们将提供他在颁奖礼期间（6月9日和10日）的食宿；如果其本人在国内，我们将cover他的3天食宿（6月9日-11日）。如果各位选手能够帮忙联系到，我们感激不尽，并希望可以在5月15日之前（最晚5月20日）给我们答复。
