Investing in China

There are many options now, aside from stocks. Mutual funds, hedge funds, PE, ETF (exchange-traded fund), ADR (American Depositary Receipt), etc. For stocks, there are A share, B share, H share ..

  • A 股 shares are based on Renmembi, can be purchased by persons with residence IDs (身份证) and traded on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges
  • B 股 shares are based on USD, for those who can’t buy A-shares (Chinese government restrictions)
  • 港股 H shares 恒生中國企業指數, Hang Seng China Enterprises Index, are the shares of companies incorporated in mainland China but traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Currently, there are lots of RMBs, about ¥6-7 千亿 (6-700,000,000,000) looking for investment opperutnities within the country.
