The sea cucumbers 海参

Haishen is a delicacy. I sometimes buy them at the grocery store when I passed by them, out of no apparent reason nor did I have a plan as how and when to cook them. IF the slugs survived that long, I might throw them into the soup. Eat-first-asking-question-later would not apply here: they would disappear in the hours long cooking journey. Most time I’d throw them away.
I don’t know how to cook sea cucumbers.

Passing by this store on Grand Street in Chinatown the other day. Wow, they sell many kinds of slugs:
南美刺参 South America sea cucumber
南美沙参
猪公参
地中海刺参
北极刺参
澳洲刺参
..
琳琅满目 a feast for the eyes.
