My cousin is pressing me for the bank fees so she could write me a check becasue her Hangzhou dragon well tea 龙井茶 was purchased on the borrowed money – this time was on Pumpkin’s. Ok, ok, ok .. I’m going to check.
HZ MEIJIAWU TRAVEL SER .. $322.09
OMG, there isn’t any fee, no transaction fee, no fx fee no any fee.
The bank teller at my town told me so as-matter-factly since it’s a high school checking account, so there isn’t any fees.
Oh really??? (Actually she’s very wrong .. )
When I pressed, she said, “well, I don’t really know for sure. Why don’t you call the bank’s hotline…”
So I did.
That Chinese merchant charged us in US$.
Obviously there won’t be any fees associated with it.
Now I suddenly remembered and understood why the tour guides kept on telling us to use our US-credit-card “becasue there isn’t any fees .. ..” and “they’re [the Chinese merchants] paying the fees .. ”
One hand they’re openly worrying if USA is going to default .. on the other hand, they couldn’t get enough of the green backs.
