Kang 炕


炕 kang – a heatable brick bed in short forwarded to me by Renate from Margit Matthews.

A raised platform-style bed, traditionally built of baked mud, which was heated from underneath by a chimney from the stove, the smoke from which would keep the occupants warm during the harsh northern winters.
