“That was the ‘Mother Goose’ Suite, music by Maurice Ravel” — slight lift and pause here — “performed by the New York Philharmonic.” The cadence was cultured, the subject matter refined. But that gravelly baritone sounded oddly out of place. Somehow it belonged to, what? Hollywood? Maybe a madcap situation comedy? “Saturday Night Live” even?
The New York classical radio station has recently moved from 96.3 to 105.9 WQXR. I don’t know anything about radio but the quality has been questionable at the current home, frequency. There’s statics, often and annoying and the weak signal even within Nassau County where the former frequency had home run. But Serious Music? He Loves It. No, Seriously – Although I love Alec Baldwin, but I’d rather have the former station/frequency back.
