The mothership

Olympic is coming up soon. The excitement isn’t where I thought it would be. For one, Beijing residents who are being inconvenient are impatient for it to be over, even before it has began. I think the Tibet fiasco really damped the spirit of this coming out party. AND I won’t be surprised to hear the conspiracy months or years from now to surface that some governments or groups (not the Lama in orange robe) were behind it (to instigate the human rights riot in Tibet and butch the torch relay ..). As for China’s recent visa restriction, I think it’s just a normal reaction.  There is a little evident and chance that China will revert back, shutting down external connections. They are too well connections with the rest of the world. The country with few thousand years history, is like a giant mother ship on the sea, it takes a long time for it to make a slight turn. Old way of doing things are slow to go.

Hotels in Beijing are giving discount. I’d think they’re upping their rate at this moment. Dalai Lama has said repeatedly that he prefers the peaceful negotiation with Beijing and he objects the riot, even on the face that many Tibet hardliners against this. He knew better. Anger Beijing in public and ruin their party will get you nothing. Beijing had sink billions to remake the city for the game, China is gaining influence on the world stage. This game is really their pride to showcase the once humiliated nation of weak and sick.  .. All those hassle and scrutiny is the price of joining the elite group, or a Jennifer Capriati of golf, win a minor major (Aussie Open, ops .. Australian Open) later in life (pro career) ..
