Seven Seas no more?
Who’s going to clean up the earth? Discover magazine July issue screamed What’s Happening to our Oceans, about Eastern Garbage Patch that lies between Big Island of Hawaii and California. Only lord knows why people littler.
I found it’s hard to mind the people you know who’s doing the dirty deed. Like my tennis buddies, after opening can of balls, few of them would very casually threw the thin lid to the floor - if you didn’t see a garbage can, you could easily put it back to the can! If he were a stranger, I sure would tell him to pick it up, or I’ll pick it up .. Once waiting in the subway - single track with commuters on both side of platforms. There was this nicely dressed lady holding a coffee in a small plastic bag with some napkins across. The platforms were packed, morning rush hour. I think everyone was sort of waiting to see what she’ll do with it. To my horror - hopefully many others, she took out the coffee and quickly and casually released the plastic bag. It floated slowly and then rested on the train track. I heard few groans. Since I didn’t know her, I yelled out, “hey, can you pls pick that up?!?!” A white trash.. Few whistled. Was I a 八婆 or 鸡公, or what? I need to remind myself that I’m neither an elected mayor or commissioned police officer .. I just couldn’t believe people would do such thing. Totally disgusting and primitive, worst than a caveman. They should be fined heavily, plus hundred hours of community service.
……….and how about the jerks that throw their cigarette butts on the ground next to the garbage cans……..or the morons that throw their garbage out of the car windows (a friend of mine had a FIRE start in her car from a cigarette donated by the car in front of her!!!)……or the people who walk their dogs and pretend that they don’t see them leaving a pile on the side walk……..
argggh……..don’t get me started!!!!
