The malpractice

What a shame that US health system and its doctors move ever slowly into the electronic age. I’m still seeing those silly medical careers ads such as billing agent. Give me a break!  The American doctors are reluctant to purchase a system they fear might soon be obsolete.  I sympathize with it.  There are too many ’systems’ to choose from.  I’d see the little cottage industry that put out a so called ’sytem’ (in fact many are simply MS Access) to help scientists (the PIs - meaning only handful people .. market size wise) to apply NIH grants!  I won’t believe it until I saw it.  Just so amazing.  Who’s dumb, dumber and dumberer here?  Within the same medical school, each department would use different vendor’s program.  In this case, why can NIH come up with a simple program or system if you would call that (not paper .. oh ya..) to ease the application process easier?

One day while I was working as the administrator at the medical school, a meeting was called.  Turned out a vendor came to hack his NIH grant application system.  I felt to my knee.  I long and often said that I’m the only Chinese who’s computer code illiterate.  But give me little time, I could make a so called ’system’ with MS Access professional.  I entertained more than one vendor.  Just simply sick to boot.
