The gap year

The gap year is popular in the UK, but only a very handful kids would do it in the US. Not sure mine would opt for this path.

Few weeks ago, Pumpkin asked if she could go to a tutor summer school for bio and math.  I was ashamed: shouldn’t we the parents pushing our kid for this sort of thing?   Guess I failed as an Asian mother in this regard.  I was hoping they’ll do something  in the summer that they don’t get to do during the school.  On the other hand, I’m happy that she has a plan and is going after it, at least not wanting to hanging out at the mall or on the streets.  Thought she’d do tennis camp again.

King’s going to do jazz this summer. For the past few days, he’s home. School is pretty much over. He likes to entertain his buddies at home, even learned to grill the burgers (grilled cheese was so yesteryear) for them, a great host. The other day I started to clean out his buddies’ stuff. Sweaters, jackets, Lego creations, toys, socks and books/notebooks are old stories. Now I found wallets, cell phones, watches, Magic cards, and even shoes, yes sneakers and loafers ..  Just wondering will I be finding their girl friends soon?  JK!
