Xiaomin’s family
Xiaomin (1906 Lujiang Anhui - 1967 Lujiang) in the front row with her three children: (fm left) Liu Chongwu 刘崇武, Liu Chongwen 刘崇文, Liu Chongbin 刘崇斌 (Don’s mother). The youngest daughter Chongwei 刘崇伟 wasn’t born yet.
Their palacial house in Beichangjie 北长街 was next door to Li Zongren 李宗仁. Then they downsized to Xisi Dajie 西四大街 where I remembered endless rooms and courtyards for us to run around for days.

Grand aunt Xiaomin’s husband Liu Zhendong 刘震东 (字亚青, 1906 Anhui - 1984 Beijing) was a wealthy banker graduated from Wisconsin. The three children pictured here all have three kids of their own. The oldest son Chongwen was an OB/GY in Guiyang, Guizhou province. They have two daughters and a son. We weren’t close due to distance.
The second son Uncle Chongwu (1926 Beijing - ) is in Beijing, with a very pretty teacher wife. Their oldest daughter Xiaodai (1954 Beijing -) is an artist and turned lawyer, now retired early, does some free lance art work in between her devotion to her two dogs and hubby. Their son is graduating from college this summer. She fusses around her dogs, pedicure, manicure them, satin tailored suits - has to be tailored

When that didn’t work, they begged for offspring, if ever .. p-l-e-a-s-e pls pls pleeeease give us a call. The middle son Liu Yong (1955 Beijing -) is a publishing executive, the younger son Liu Chang (1965 Beijing -) is a tenured professor at NIU teaching business.

Aunt Chongbin (1929 Beijing -) is the closest with us. Older son Xu Jin (1954 Beijing - ) is an executive with a steel company in Beijing, often travelled to US and S America for business. His son is finishing up college in Japan this summer. Not sure to return home or to continue schooling in the US, if he can get a visa and admission. Xu Da (1955 Beijing -) or Don lives/works in Virginia with his oral surgeon turned web designer wife. Their daughter worked for JEF in the city since graduating from college in 2006, will move to 3I, a private equity firm this coming July. Chongbin’s husband, Don’s dad Xu Shaogao 许绍高 (1919 - 1990 Beijing) was a civil engineer from Panyu 番寓 County, in Guangdong Province. He’s Xu Guangping 许广平(1898 - 1968)’s nephew with whom he’s very close. When Xu Guangping wanted to go to school, it was Shaogao’s grandfather who supported her. By the time when Shaogao went to school in England, the family fortune had gone, Guangping and Lu Xun reciprocated the favor with his book royalty.
