The 14th Dalai Lama
Is there something lost in translation between China and Tibet/Dalai Lama?
The smiling old man was born in a cowshed as Lhamo Thondup, in a 20-house village in rural Amdo province, eastern Tibet .. the million pounds baby was chosen to be the 14th Dalai Lama at age of 2 because he passed series of tests (like identified among a group of objects the ones that had belonged to the previous Dalai Lama). He’s winning the media war over China, many times over because he’s adopted to the western way of doing business, granting free interviews, etc. while China isn’t and hasn’t. He’s charismatic and pragmatic while the changing face of China is always stoic and unapproachable. He’s a gifted politician, human and personable. China is a 1.3 billion strong roaring juggernaut engine that attracts resentment, that most view as a threat. Why hasn’t his charm disarm China?? Something lost in translation or there is something China knows we don’t?
