Xiaojin
Lϋ Xiaojin 吕孝谨 (1914 - 1950) was my Yeye’s half brother, born to Zhao. In her memoir, Lucy wrote he wasn’t able to conceive, but in fact, he sired a son (died young) and a daughter Lϋ Youlin 吕友林 (1944 - ). Youlin’s retired from the coal mine general store 小卖部 , and still lives in Lujiang, keeps sporadic phone contacts with Jiujiu. Her husband Gao had passed away in 2007 and her daughter Gao Kun 高坤 (1979 - ) works in Anqing. Youlin bears the unmistakable semblance to her father Xiaojin. One day during her first visit in Beijing, Don’s mother happened to drop by. Yeye asked her ‘do you know who is she?’ pointing to Youlin.
“She looks like Xiao Jiu 小舅.” They call Xiaojin younger uncle.
