Carpets from Tibet

Published by The Kibbitzer at 1:08 pm under View from Bottom

I came out of a fancy shop that hangs fruit of the loom white underwear - no, not the particular one worn by Michael Jordan as momebilia - among other futuristic looking outfits one by one on the hangers and wandered into a store next door that sells carpets, from Tibet.  It’s in Soho, right off Broadway.  There wasn’t any protesting monks in robes.  The show room is very quiet, spacious, and the wall to wall carpets are very elegant.  One 6×6 sells for $5,800, the average price in the store.  Striking, stark contrast .. the average Tibetans live in poverty while their hand made carpets sells premium elsewhere.  HHmmmmm .. the average citizens in the oil-rich countries seem to be living high, don’t they?  Why is that?  The gov takes better care of it people?  Ok, oil/gas is in much demand - an necessierty but carpet isn’t ..  But still ..  .. Anyway, it’s always a great pleasure shop in Soho ..found a dress!  Night out anyone?
