An old wise guy
One nigh recently couple of Americans asked me about what’s all the fuss about Tibet, “why not letting it be independent?” Sure there isn’t a gold mine nor oil reserve. They looked totally have no idea. But recent Tibet assault got them curious. “Do you care what’s going on in Tibet?” I asked. Bet they don’t know Tibet from Timor or Timbuktu, nor do they care, ”Well .. seeing all those riots .. ”
neither did I or we, my generation care about Tibet.
Tibet is winning the media war. Regardless of the harsh Tibet ritual, Dalai Lama looks like an old wise guy, humble, kind, full of wisdom. He put a human face to the vast barren Tibet where China is hard to pin down. I don’t think that Dalai Lama wished for this. Because embarrassing Beijing gets him nothing. Hu Jintao was the party boss of Tibet, so he knew. So does Dalai Lama who has no bargaining chip in his old hands.
