The coping class
The Brit has bestowed a new term for middle class: coping class, with the undertone, or political overtone, that this hard working class is struggling. Although the middle class is defined widely, but without argument, it’s the largest block in the western societies, Chidia’s are emerging. Both rich and poor enjoy many privileges that are unavailable to us, the coping class. The rich has endless financial means and the poor has the government behind it. What about us? What can we fall back on? We work hard, manage put up a meal a day on the table, we are being good. The other day, a visiting nurse said, many families she visited, live in grandeur. “Their children have means but the parents enjoy the social benefits .. on our tax dollars ..” (To enjoy it, get ride of your assets five years prior ..) Perhaps I spent my primitive years in HK .. .. palms up and out for social benefit isn’t something an able person should do. I also failed to see the point of giving endless benefit to the ‘needy‘ people. If they spend a bit more time in training or finding a starter job and spend less time in bed making babies, they wouldn’t be that needy after all. Hallo? I’m getting up early every day, working hard, so should the needies.
