Sterling vineyards
Tanglewood 1997
Peter Newton (1926-2008), a Brit, the founder of this vineyard had just passed away. He’s credited with putting the vocabulary of Merlot and Chardonnay into ordinary Americans who otherwise only knew wine as red and white. We falling in love with Sterling’s Chardonnay at the Lexon when we attended the BSO at Tanglewood that summer - gosh, must be 11 years ago! They have a nice wine shop, the concert goers are serious music lovers. They go with white table cloth (for their table) and many even have flower arrangements. We could only sit on the lawn due to the little kids. Pumpkin was only two years old and as soon as the tempo rose, she started to dance in her white poka dots dress. On the way out, I was holding her. Facing the crowds, she pointed to me, ”mama, mama ..” .. as if it’s just yesterday!
Berkshires in MA is one of my favored vacation spot, very cosmo, especially at Lexon. I just got the tickets for an All-Beethoven program at Tanglewood this July, his triple concerto and the Pastoral, will be conducted by Bernard Haitink. Really looking forward to it! Golfer also got tickets for Rush there .. .. oh well .. okay, I’m looking forward to it too. I think I felt asleep even the whole Garden was rocking, the last time I went to Rush, or Yes at the Madison Sq Garden, whichever :). Newton who had a law degree from Oxford later created Newton Winery, now the terroir of some of the finest American wines, selling in three digits. Bush welcomed the Queen last year at the White House with his Merlot .. Funny how life would turn
