Blair’s new role .. 人穷志短?

Published by The Kibbitzer at 1:37 pm under Current Affairs

Tony has signed up with JP Morgan Chase as part-timer to advice Jamie, numerating at about $1m per year, one of few positions he’ll be taking in the near future.  His memoir reported fetched a cool £5m (topped Bill’s $8m?).  The western leaders have been cashing in on their fame soon after leaving office, where are the Chinese counterparts, :)) don’t be shy!!  The Blairs are portrayed in the media as clean and uplifting.  His wife has a real job (vs Hillary).  Once a reporter commented during a world leader conference where the spouses were also presented, noting that most leaders said nothing to their wives but Tony, they were chatting enthusiastically, all the time.  That says something!  They weren’t rich by any measure, but I’ve never heard some disgraceful behavior/news ..

That brings to mind of Benazir Bhutto.  A finely educated woman, Harvard and Oxford, but she couldn’t resist corruption, with her husband nicknamed Mr. 10%, as her finance minister.  Invading Iraq was a mistake, but corruption (especially in a poor nation!) isn’t debatable.  It’s so fundamental!  No brainer, for pete’s sake.  Why couldn’t those wait till leaving office, then charge your 100% premium?  The Clintons didn’t they know that there are plenty $500,000 a pop speech gigs waiting for him?  Fame brings in money, but one has to be careful as when to harvest that gold mine.
