Olympic Infidelity
While the hubby was briefing on Olympic on the podium, his equally well-known wife joined him on stage, denouncing him for having an affair. At first, the reporters thought she was playing duet with him, making the conference more colorful. Well, colourful indeed. I heard this at the new year’s eve party in DC, sitting at a table full of wives. If Hu looks for sympathy by going public, she isn’t getting any from us. The wives said,
“How inappropriate ..”
“She deserves it .. ” Apparently, they both divorced to marry each other and the general consent was that she chased him, hard.
“With this, she’ll never find a job again .. ..”
“He’s such a gentleman ..”
.. ..
The unsympathetic disapproval from other wives is perhaps stemming from the mixture of patriotic, tacit permission of other woman, self-esteem. Airing dirty laundry isn’t my style, and I do agree that she’s out of line. Being hackled like a little rat, why would she do that? Humiliating herself. Poor judgement. We all have problems, so pls deal with them privately, or when you have the floor! I know we Chinese women are weird, :).
A g/f told me this story. Years ago, while she was pursuing a marriage with the man who just got dumped by his wife and was taken to court for not willing to hand over half of his asset, she was living with and pregnant. He would lingerer in the night club 8 nights a week. The kind of club infested with girls and smoke you and I won’t normally go to. So one night she couldn’t take it any more, went to the club on the second floor, looking for him. She was visibly pregnant at time. When she told me this, I was horrified. .. He eventually married her, tag on a most stringent pre nup.
