Getting paid ..

Pumpkin is fine with her plastic eyes.  We went to visit Dr. Auerbach one more time, checking up on her to see if the fit is fine, which is.  Perhaps don’t have to see him for a year or so.  The first thing he said to me was to apologized for the call they made in asking for payment, which was a mistake.  I don’t know how difficult it is to get paid.  From the tone of those kind of calls, I take it’s not easy.  This is the second time.  First time was from another Dr in the city, who’s girl also made mistake.  In almost all offices, the girls are courteous with a pleasant voice and manner.  But those two calls were not.  The girl in the city, rang me up, without a single greeting, said in a very stiff tone, “you have a balance of $x,xxx, how would you like to pay?”  It took me back for a moment.  After I asked for what did I owe you, I realized she needed to do her home work better, and I barked back at her so.  Next time I was in their office, she apologised profusely.  This time, from Dr. A’s office, the tone wasn’t nasty, but still it waste of my time to have to deal with it.

Actually we do have an on going dispute.  I picked him out of my insurance website.  The initial visit was for annual check up which is covered 100%.  But when they filed, they claimed it’s an office visit, which requires co-pay, etc.  Plus Dr. A performed more than check up, so more fees were involved, $235 for each.  I called both.  The insurer said they can’t tell how the office should file their claim.  I called the dr office, telling them if I asked for a check up, you should just perform check up.  Correct?  Anything over that I might consider is sweetener that you give for free, hoping to get more business.  Make sense?  I just don’t see you charge for the service I didn’t ask for.  The girl arrogantly replied, “ophthalmologist doesn’t do check up, .. for that you go to optometry ..  .. “  Excuse me, are you pulling my arms?
