The Supreme Court

Published by The Kibbitzer at 2:49 pm under View from Bottom

The supreme court Justice are in the news a lot lately.  Chief Roberts plus 8 associates, so there will always be a vote.  I just found out that their job is to interpret the Constitution, which is only 1.5 page long, which was adapted in 1787.  Let’s see, more than 200 years has passed, and what more interpretations do we need on the 1.5 pages?  Which part of the 1.5 pages hadn’t been interpreted by the past large minds?  Does it mean that different era the Justices would interpret the Constitution differently?  Abortion, segregation, affirmative action, gay marriage ..  (Isn’t abortion each woman’s birth right?  Does it really need a supreme court to decide if a pregnant woman can or can’t abort, due to her particular circumstance at time?) .. were those issues an issue back in the 1700 or 1800?  Do they apply the same 1.5 page of Constitution accordingly?  Does that give China the leeway to digest ‘human right’ and ‘democracy’?
