Asian breasts

Breast cancer is no longer the disease of the Western world, it has become a global concern - Westernized life comes with its perks: fatty foods, lack of exercise and obesity which may raise the incidence of breast cancer.  And Asian women are at higher risk of developing a more aggressive form of breast cancer known as estrogen-receptor negative.  Shouldn’t we Asians with cardboard body built have less chance of developing it?  :)   Oh well, what do I know about relationship between the shape/size of body parts and cancer.  But I know that Chinese do acquire breast cancer.

One of my aunts (adapted in Beijing) who immigrated to US in her teens and retired from working for IBM in early 90s.  She soon developed breast cancer.  I visited her while on my maternity leave in 1993 and she lost her battle in 1995.  Another breast cancer case was one of my best friends’ mom.  Bred in Shanghai and grew up in Beijing.  After retired as botanist fm Institute of Botany at CAS, she followed her hubby who’s managing a project for Lee Tsung-Dao (or was it for Yang?) at Stony Brook in NY in the early 90s when she found a lump.  She survived.
