3,000 years of luxury
Dana Thomas said that .. .. “Luxury execs demonised production in China .. .. when they declared that western European artisans were the only craftsmen who knew how to produce luxury goods. .. China, for example, was the birthplace of luxury, and for 3,000 years reigned as one of the world’s cultural capitals. It was communist for one generation. ..” Did the Chinese teach the Italians how to weave silk? .. .. 3,000 years might have stretched a little, but blaming the communist for the poverty China had suffered wasn’t right. China sliding down the tube long before the communists took a hold. Actually they took hold was because of the sliding, the humiliation China had been experiencing since the Late Qing.
The shoddy things coming out of China for the past couple of decades had really imprinted in the consumers’ consciousness, guess China will have to pay a hefty premium for a while to be taken as capable of making quality products as the best out there.
