Burgers

Hamburgers (and French fries) are American institution, burned into their DNA, can’t live without it.  More than often, kids would order burgers.  Isn’t gyros good enough?  And are the restaurants’ or diners’ burgers better and healthier than the McDs?  By any measure, I fail to see the allure, and held the believe that burgers are mostly junk food, or at least those came out of the fast food chains.  So when kids ask for McD, they knew they are pulling favors or using quotas, lol.  Or it’s my bribery tool.  When we were in BJ, they were home sick, so they ate KFCs n McDs every other day, almost.  I usually asked the restaurant if they allowed those food - most of them would - so kids ate the alien food while we feast on the real Chinese gourmet.  Since we came back from BJ in 2003, they haven’t asked for McDonald: the moment we sat down in the plane heading home, I told them the good life of fast food was over.  Guess they fill their burger fixation thro the restaurants.  Guess I’m bit obsessed in that regards.  Well, eating health is good thing.  They don’t drink soda.  I buy no candies. .. .. It produces embarrassing moments often.  When they were young, at party, they’d stationed themselves next to the chips, lol .. Once a Korean mom brought her daughter over for a play date, the first time, she armed with a small box of Dunkin Donut balls.  I told her it’s really not necessary, just a playdate .. .. meaning no food or gift .. but Pumpkin (was only 6 years old at time) took it differently, further explained to the mom, as matter factly, “oh, we don’t eat junk food.”  lord, I wished for a hole in the ground so I could escape.
