Baifen 打百分

cimg5670.JPGBaifen - 100 point - is a card game similar to bridge, but simpler.  Before I attended the very first Renda gathering - my only purpose for going, I told Xiao Ping that I’ll find some enthusiasts there.  Happily to report, I found one and we played this Sunday.  It’s getting harder and harder to meet and make a friend now, for I have family to reckon with and they have to meet their approval.  Shhiiish.

She bought 糖葫芦 with her, sweet.  We make pretty good group of players.  Julie is Xiao Ping’s friend from Shanghai.  She’s web developer, so I asked Xiao Ping if I could ask a favor from her.  They all laughed.  Xiao Ping: “you need favor from her, not me ..”  Julie: “I came here before …”  Well, call me old fashioned.  Just thought there is a little boundary one shouldn’t cross?  Like I won’t invite Julie directly if I wanted to.  It’s better left for Xiao Ping.  Butterfield wrote about this phenomenon in his book, China: Alive in the Bitter Sea
