The speedy Asians

We’re looking to place ad on a magazine that circulates primarily in Asia.  I thought it’ll be a snap of fingers to get the rate.  Right?  Wrong.  I e-mailed the editor and the ad person listed on their web site.  After 10 full days, the editor located in Austrialia e-mail back to see if I like the journal.  No, sir.  All I wanted is your ad rates.  He said, ok, I forward your info to my ad guy in Singapore.  Another full 5 days passed before I got their media kit.  One more problem, I wondered whose dollar its the rate based on: HK$, S$, AUS$, or the all too common US$.  It’s warranted since the magazine’s operation spreads out in few countries.  Another 6 days elapsed before I got a reply, it’s all in good ol greenback.  Does this simple task really need 3 weeks to be complete?  Would that be too much to ask they add the US$ in the rate sheet, rather than just $?  I always thought the speed in Asia is fast!  Funny enough during the same time I checked out two other mags in NY, lord, they replied within few hours, pledging to work with me, help me …  Where on earth has the efficiency I once known gone to?  Oh ya right, Irene has left HK, cute tease, but I’m not amused, lol.  I was once restless here in NY for it’s too slow for me!
