Irene Eng The Kibbitzer

By 唐德刚 Te-Kong Tong [Tang Degang], Taipei, 1998.  A series of five books covering the last 70 years of China’s last dynasty, Qing (1644-1911), from 1840-1911.  Fluidly written, he switchen back and forth between China and the the world. 

I had to order the books thro the local bookstore from Taipei.  When I finally got them after few weeks, I raced to his home on a cold November Saturday and had him autographed.  Each one, he wrote something humorously and worded differently.
