The juniors of the senior cadres - princelings are selected few in China, mostly in Beijing. They are privileged because of their parents had rendered service or given lives to the liberation of China. Supposedly the national flag is soaked with their blood. The poster boy of the princeling at the moment is the Bo Xilai, the Minister of Commerce, able and good looking. Margaret Ren is another well publicized figure, a banker lured by Citi in 2001 from Bear Stearns with a salary reported to exceed $8 million, only to be fired in 2006 over allegation that she had submitted false documents to U.S. regulators in connection with an investigation into the China Life listing. She’s being picked up by Merrill this year. I’m not sure bout her origin except that she married to former Chinese Premier Zhao Ziyang’s son - this reference is always invoked whenever her name is being mentioned, hmmmmm …
